Empty Centre
This piece was inspired by an address given by sociologist Dr Avril Bell titled "Becoming Pakeha; Dominance and its Costs" at a conference in Wellington in 2007. She said Pakeha have been described as the 'empty centre' of New Zealand biculturalism.
